Atlas Soils, in partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Coles, Boody Underwear, local schools, and community partners, launched the 1,000,000 Coffees Challenge—a city-wide initiative proving that small actions, done together, create real impact. By turning everyday coffee waste into valuable soil products, schools have become hubs for hands-on learning, giving kids a tangible way to experience the circular economy in action. This is not about one business or idea—it’s about collaboration, community, and creating a model that can be replicated anywhere.  

Atlas Soils is quietly reshaping how waste is valued, working alongside local businesses, councils, and First Nations partners to find practical, community-driven solutions. Founded by three local dads, all born and bred in Townsville, Atlas Soils has co-developed the Living Soils® range, creating new markets for otherwise wasted materials. Alongside this, a mobile circular economy arm of the business is transforming regional waste into opportunities—working quietly on both supply and demand models, moving well beyond recycling into skilled remanufacturing.

By listening first and working collaboratively, Atlas Soils is co-building a Pantry Platform with local businesses—an approach that strengthens the circular economy by making it more accessible, adaptive, and competitive against traditional linear systems.
